sazeh workflow

This page shows the steps from uploading the file to receiving the sheet, and what you must specify at each step. See the overview for a general introduction.

1. Prepare the model file

The input is an .e2k file exported from ETABS itself; ETABS does not need to be installed on your machine. Before you export from ETABS, check the following:

2. Upload the file on the home page

On the home page, choose the file and specify the following:

ItemDescription
Design base acceleration AChoose one of the four values: 0.20 (low hazard), 0.25 (moderate), 0.30 (high) or 0.35 (very high), as the seismic hazard of the site requires.
Soil typeType I to IV, according to the geotechnical report of the project.
Structural systemIntermediate or special reinforced-concrete moment frame, dual system of frame and shear wall, intermediate or special steel moment frame, or braced frame. The coefficients of table 3-4 come from this choice.
PenthouseIf the top storey of the model is a penthouse, declare it. sazeh does not guess a penthouse.
Compatibility torsionIf the torsion of the beams is of the compatibility type, tick this option. The assumption applies only to the corrected model; the original model stays as uploaded.

Sign-up uses your email address and a password.

3. Wait until the check is complete

sazeh reads the model, builds the code loads, analyses the building and checks every member. The time depends on the size of the model and ranges from a few minutes to a few hours for large buildings with walls. The job page shows the status, and the page does not need to stay open.

4. Read the result

5. Apply the corrections in ETABS

The closing section of the sheet turns the corrections into actions that are named after ETABS windows. sazeh does not change your ETABS file; the engineer applies the corrections in the model and, if needed, uploads the new file again.

An important note about the result

A clause that cannot be fixed by a change of section, for example a modelling question or an assumption of the engineer, is listed in the sheet with what would close it. A "deferred" row means that the item cannot be checked with the present tool and its verdict rests with the engineer. The responsibility for the result and for the signature rests with the engineer (limitations).
